If we remember Dukas only for his work, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, that alone has given joy to millions through the music film version created by Disney. It's the definition of a tour de force. Not only was Dukas a superb composer and orchestrator, but a dedicated pedagogue in the Paris Conservatoire, with many 'name' pupils including the great Messiaen.
